STAR is funded through a combination of earned-income, foundation and corporate grants, individual donations, and state and federal grants.
How many scholarships does STAR give away, and on what basis are scholarship recipients selected?
STAR gave away over $5 million in scholarships in the 2006-2007 school year alone. 3,000 children receive scholarships through the STAR Education Outreach Program as determined by the State of California, and thousands more receive scholarships on a need-based sliding scale as determined by STAR Directors, based on family income records.

STAR is selected by principals, school districts and parents to enhance and improve school communities and provide after school opportunities.
What are STAR’s hours?
STAR’s Administration hours are 9am-5pm. At school sites, STAR’s Before and After School Programs run from 6:30am – 6:30pm in the Eureka Union and Western Placer Unified School Districts and from 11:30am - 6:00pm in the Loomis Union School District.
